I hold a PhD in Social Sciences with a minor in Sociology from FLACSO Mexico. I also earned a Master’s degree in Urban Studies from the Center for Demographic, Urban, and Environmental Studies (CEDUA) at El Colegio de México, A.C., and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the Center for International Studies (CEI) at the same institution. I am an active member of the Network for Studies on Indigenous Resistance.

My research interests center on cultural sociology, with a particular emphasis on expanding the applicability of iconicity theory to analyze Indigenous resistance as expressed through cultural forms. My work has specifically examined social processes in Chiapas, Mexico.

I am currently a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Anthropology at Metropolitan Autonomous University in Mexico City. (CCS Visiting Fellow - October & November, 2025)
