Carla is a PhD student in the Sociology Department and a Fellow at the Center for Cultural Sociology at Yale University. She holds a MPhil degree in Gender Studies from El Colegio de México and a BA in International Relations from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her research has explored the cultural and historical dimensions of labeling, stigmatization, incarceration, and gender. Currently, Carla is dedicated to understanding the processes of meaning-making surrounding gender violence and feminicide. Her areas of interest are cultural sociology, sociology of knowledge, social theory, gender, and carceral studies.
