Jean-François Côté is professor in the Department of Sociology at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). He specializes in sociological theory and epistemology, and has developed a special interest in studying cultures and societies in the Americas. His single-authored books include La sociologie culturelle de Jeffrey C. Alexander (Québec, Presses de l’Université Laval, 2021) - English translation, Jeffrey Alexander and cultural sociology, Polity, 2023; La Renaissance du théâtre autochtone. Métamorphose des Amériques I (Québec, Presses de l’Université Laval, 2017); George Herbert Mead’s Concept of Society : A Critical Reconstruction (Boulder/New York, Paradigm/Routledge, 2015); and Poe, Stein, Warhol. Figures de la modernité esthétique (Bruxelles, La lettre volée, 2003). He has also published numerous articles and book chapters, together with co-edited books in sociology. He has been editor of the Américana series at Presses de l’Université Laval since 2004.
