Maria Rovisco is Associate Professor in Sociology at the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds, UK. Her research contributes to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary conversations on themes such as the role of the arts in civil society, the centrality of imagination in politics, cosmopolitanism as a cultural practice, and the aesthetic dimensions of the public sphere. Among her recent publications are the co-edited Visual Politics in the Global South (Palgrave: 2023) and Artists, Cosmopolitanism, and the Civic Imagination (Routledge: 2025). She is the non-fiction editor of the literary magazine ‘The Other Side of Hope’.
