Matthias Revers is Associate Professor of Political Communication at the University of Leeds and part-time Interim Professor of Communication Studies (Climate and Science Communication) at the University of Hamburg. He received his PhD from SUNY-Albany. His work spans political sociology, media sociology, and cultural sociology, with a particular focus on conceptual and empirical work on political polarization, far-right political communication and on how political divides are negotiated in everyday conversations. He has published on performative and micro-level polarization, as well as on transformations in journalism, and has conducted ethnographic, survey-based, and computational research in Germany, the UK, and the US. He is the author of Contemporary Journalism in the US and Germany: Agents of Accountability (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017) and a member of the editorial board of Cultural Sociology.
