Emeritus Professor Sandy Gill has published the new book, Whites Recall the Civil Rights Movement in Birmingham: We Didn’t Know it was History until after it Happened. In addition to giving a concise overview of some of the central events of the Civil Rights Movement, Prof. Gill’s interviews with her classmates at an all-white high school in Birmingham demonstrate that even memories of one’s past arise from social experiences.
