Faculty Fellow Celso M. Villegas Appointed NEH Distinguished Teaching Associate Professor of Sociology at Kenyon College

Seven Kenyon College Faculty Named to Endowed Positions
On July 1, CSS Faculty Fellow Celso M. Villegas was appointed National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Distinguished Teaching Associate Professor of Sociology at Kenyon College. This endowed professorship honors a member of the Kenyon faculty who has displayed excellence in teaching and has developed a compelling vision of how the professorship would enhance the study of the humanities, funded by a grant from the NEH and gifts from friends of Kenyon College.
Celso’s project aims to synthesize the movement in literary studies called postcritique with cultural sociology. The main aim of the project is to provide the intellectual resources to students and others to read each other with faith instead of with suspicion, and to find joy and surprise in the social world.
