Jeffrey Alexander presents work at the All India Sociological Conference

CCS Director Jeffrey Alexander travelled to India over the holiday break to present his work at Kerala University as part of the 45th All India Sociological Conference on December 27th-29th. He gave two special plenary lectures at this event, on the topics ‘Cultural Trauma’ and ‘Civil Sphere In the Present Day World’. He also presented his work in the Kerala University Sociology Department on January 3rd on ‘Iconic Objects & the New Middle Class’.

After last year’s visit to Northern India, Jeff’s visit this year to Southern India is a continuation of his increased engagement with Indian sociologists. This coming May in New Haven, Jeff with host the  workshop, “The Civil Sphere in India” - another in his series of Civil Sphere Theory events.
