Shai Dromi Receives Honorable Mention

Shai Dromi

Faculty Fellow Shai M. Dromi received an honorable mention from the ASA Comparative-Historical Section’s 2017 Theda Skocpol Best Dissertation Award committee. Shai’s project is titled The Religious Roots of Transnational Relief: Calvinism, Humanitarianism, and the Genesis of Social Fields. it examines the origins and development of the humanitarian NGO sector and its distinct ethical framework. It is based on archival research at the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Library of Geneva. Shai’s book is under advance contract at the University of Chicago Press, and he has published articles based this research in Sociological Theory and The Sociological Review. Shai is currently a College Fellow at the Department of Sociology at Harvard University.
